Overview

Singapore is located at the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula, just off the coast of Malaysia and near the equator. It is an island nation made up of the main island and over 60 smaller islands.Singapore was founded as a British trading colony in 1819 by Sir Stamford Raffles. It gained independence from Britain in 1959 and became a self-governing state.

In 1965, Singapore became an independent republic after separating from Malaysia.Under the leadership of Lee Kuan Yew, the first Prime Minister of Singapore, the country transformed from a small port city into a global financial powerhouse through rapid industrialization, strategic foreign policies, and investments in education and infrastructure.
