Overview

Thailand is located in the heart of Southeast Asia, bordered by Myanmar (to the west and northwest), Laos (to the northeast), Cambodia (to the southeast), and Malaysia (to the south). To the west lies the Andaman Sea, and to the east, the Gulf of Thailand.

Thailand has a rich history that dates back thousands of years. It was known as Siam until 1939 and is the only Southeast Asian country never to have been colonized by a European power.The kingdom’s history is marked by the rise and fall of powerful dynasties, including the Sukhothai and Ayutthaya kingdoms.Thailand became a constitutional monarchy in 1932, and it has experienced periods of military rule and political unrest, particularly in recent decades.
